What it is, how it works

Every Saturday from May through October, the Farmington Farmers Market promotes good health by bringing together consumers who value nutritious food and farmers who grow it. Most of our farmers, growers and gatherers offer an even more direct way of bringing customers and produce together. It’s called Community Supported Agriculture.

CSAs have been around for decades. But they took on a new meaning in 2020 during the covid crisis when people became health-focused but reluctant to shop in public stores. CSA’s offer the perfect solution by allowing subscribers to place orders and pick them up at open fresh-air markets and in some cases the farms themselves. The farmer benefits from financial security, and the consumer enjoys direct access to organically grown fruits and vegetables – a win-win situation.

Here are links to our farmers-growers-gatherers who offer CSAs or similar programs. Click boxes for links to more information and to sign up. NOTE: Some of the programs may already be sold out for the season. But you can still learn about them and plan early for next season.
