Breeanna Breckenridge is a full-time professional baker by day who takes her work home with her. “I love baking cakes and confections of all kinds, but this summer I'm focusing on my fruit pies,” she says. And we’re so glad she is. Bree will be bringing to market both 9-inch "full sized" pies and miniature ones that can be enjoyed in just a few bites. “My pies have a flaky, all-butter crust,” she says, “and I use them to showcase seasonal, Michigan-grown fruit.”

Dough Joe’s Artisan Chocolates

Chef Joe Gilligan, a graduate of Schoolcraft College’s prestigious Baking and Pastry program, learned about the art of chocolate in Paris, where he purchased his first chocolate molds. He also worked as a pastry chef at the Lark Restaurant in West Bloomfield. His mission is “to deliver high-quality chocolates made with 100% organic butter and cream with the finest chocolates available with our flavors varying season to season.”

Sue Bannow has been designing jewelry for a living since 1999. She works with 14-karat gold, gold-filled and sterling silver metals combined with natural gemstones to create a wide range of jewelry. “Much of my work is inspired by my mother, a watercolor artist who used the most amazing choice of colors I had ever seen,” she says. “I credit her with gifting me her sense of color.”

Nakija Mills was born on the Caribbean island of Dominica and grew up in the Netherlands, which explains the name of her business: “The word Lekker is Dutch and African (and) translates to delicious, and Chócó means chocolate!” She will offer fresh chocolate-covered strawberry skewers, strawberry-banana skewers and bananas. “We will also offer our famous poffertjes (mini-Dutch pancakes) with unlimited drizzled premium chocolate (milk, white and dark) and with your choice of chopped toppings.”
