Fall recipes for a fall day at the Market

chef1.pngChef Hariprasad Dhatchinamoorthy, a graduate of Oakland Community College’s highly regarded Culinary Studies Institute, prepared special offerings at the Farmers Market October 1.

Chef Hari demonstrated how to make an Indian-inspired dish of pumpkin and tomato chutney with aromatic spices, which was then offered as samples to market shoppers.

chef2.pngHe was joined by Chef Julie Selonke, program co-ordinator and chef instructor at the institute, who helped with food prep and sample service. The two combined for another demonstration/tasting last summer.

They were assisted by market volunteer Polly Varhol, who helped assemble the dishes.

Chef Hari is a native of India who specializes in modern Indian cuisine and contemporary European cuisine. He plans to open a contemporary Indian restaurant in the metro Detroit area.
