Music Makes the Market!

Music is a harmonious mainstay at the market from Opening Day through the end of October! Each week brings a unique blend of acoustic rhythms and harmonies from folk to R&B to classic rock. Our musicians are veterans of the local music scene who add a dimension of both sound and feeling that will make your visit an experience. Come listen, or as pop troubadour legend Jackson Browne would have it, "Stay ... just a little bit longer ... Stay ... just a little bit more ..."

Our Schedule

5/27/2017
Jamrocks

In the celtic tradition with bodhrans, fiddles and mandolins. In the summer of 2009, a group of musicians who frequented some of Metro Detroit's drop-in Celtic music sessions decided to form a somewhat more organized group ... and, Jamrocks was born. Since then, various members of Jamrocks have performed at venues as diverse as retirement homes, charity fundraisers, restaurants / pubs, concerts in the park, and large music festivals. The group tailors their playlist for each performance; while festivals lend themselves to a larger group to perform pub songs and ballads, our more intimate gigs (such as our performances at the Market) allow us to focus on our first love: recreating the ambiance and energy one would experience at the "Ceilis" of Ireland and Scotland - where folks would gather at the end of the long work week to dance to live music, and share good times with friends old and new. We wish to thank the City of Farmington for allowing us to share our passion for performing Celtic dance music with those who visit the Market in 2015. Slainte!

6/3/2017
Dan Goree

From classic rock to R & B and even a little country the Daniree Duo lights up the market with a steady beet, sweet rhythms and silky vocals. Daniel Goree, from the Pacific Northwest, and Donald "Bopper" Clark, a Michigan local, get together to take listeners on a journey through American music. Both of these musicians, Goree on lead guitar and Clark on bass, have been around the world, bringing sounds and perspectives to their interpretation of American rhythm & blues, Motown and country. Their music ranges from country standards of Waylon Jennings to R&B by Marvin Gaye to pop hits of Michael Jackson. The only thing you can expect is surprise at what they might pull out next.

6/10/2017
The Potters Field

Rochelle Clark and John Natiw are The Potter's Field, a Midwest based Folk/Americana/Roots duo. Known for poetic, gritty lyrics, driving instrumental style (including acoustic and electric guitar, mandolin, harmonica, typical and non-typical percussion elements and the occasional kazoo), close and powerful vocal harmonies and easy stage presence, The Potter's Field surprises with new songs and ideas that sound familiar yet nostalgic.

Billy Brandt

Billy Brandt is a multiple-award-winning Detroit area singer-songwriter, whose rootsy, folky, psychedelic alt-country background underpins strong songwriting and an adventurous spirit. A mainstay of the local Detroit scene, Billy's collaborations with other artists are near-legendary - and you're as likely to find him out playing with former protegee Jill Jack, or his 'Celticana' duo with Sarana VerLin, or his roots rock combo Grievous Angel, as you are to find him solo. His excellent solo album 'The Mission Band' showcases both his songwriting and his performance collaborations, and is well worth more than one listen. Billy's love for music is infectious, and his embrace of different genres brings a richness and an expanse to his shows. Be prepared for a genial, convivial, and musically rewarding evening with songs you know, songs you might know, and songs you will discover and treasure.
